Striker Robin van Persie has given the clearest indication yet that he will renew his contract with Arsenal.
The Dutch international had earlier indicated that he was concerned the North London club could not match his ambitions, but that seems to have now been cleared up.
And with manager Arsène Wenger banning all contract talks till the end of the season, van Persie was not too forthcoming with further details.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, van Persie said: "We've had a couple of meetings now in a really positive atmosphere.
"The main thing in these things is whether you both have the intention to extend [the contract] but the way I see it is that we both have the intention to extend so there's a big chance I will stay.
"We are talking about a new deal, not now because, as I read in the paper, the boss doesn't want us to speak about it any more.
"That's his opinion, no problem with that. We'll wait.
"We'll go on with the meetings at the end of the season. I have a deal here, I do respect that and what happens after my deal I don't know because we're still talking."
